Do I Have to Wear Lingerie to My Boudoir Session?
Let’s get this out of the way right off the bat: no, you absolutely do not have to wear lingerie to your boudoir session. Boudoir is about embracing who you are and feeling good in your skin—what you wear (or don’t wear!) is completely up to you.
This question comes up all the time, and it’s such an important one to talk about. Because the truth is, boudoir isn’t about fitting into a certain mold or ticking a box—it’s about showing up as you. Here’s what I tell every single client who walks through my studio door:
It’s Not About the Outfit—It’s About the Energy
Boudoir is about confidence, connection, and self-expression. For some people, that might look like a lacy lingerie set. For others, it could be a cozy sweater, a robe, a bodysuit, or your partner’s favorite shirt. Some clients bring in silky dresses or go full-on artistic with a draped sheet. And some? They choose to go nude.
Whatever makes you feel comfortable, powerful, beautiful—that’s what we’ll shoot.
One of the most empowering parts of boudoir is realizing that it’s not about performing for someone else.
You don’t have to wear lingerie to be sexy.
You don’t have to wear anything you wouldn’t wear in real life. If lingerie feels like you, amazing. If it doesn’t, that’s totally okay.
